about

February's track is inspired by The Lost Bay a suburban horror tabletop RPG where players are teens and young adults trying to make the best out of the imminent end of the world. As part of the Dungeon23 challenge IKO has been creating a mini-dungeon setting called UNIT DH-17.

The part that inspired this song is the POV of the characters. Young kids trying to make the best of a world that has been ruined by untrustworthy adults.

The game is scheduled to be released in late spring 2023. You can keep up with IKO and his work on the following sites.

lyrics

In the summer of 93
It was only my friends and me
Every day searching on the beach
For a future beyond our reach

Hear the dogs howling in the night
And other things out to give a fright
But we don’t mind what we don’t know
And we go where we want to go

So where can we meet
Is there a place to escape the heat

I don’t wanna go to school no more
Don’t wanna fight your invisible war
Bodies falling like hail in spring
Should I pretend I don’t see a thing

So where can we go, is there a place where we can roll

Here in the Lost Bay
We’re not the blessed, we’re just the rest
In the Lost Bay
But how many days do we have left

I’m a freak but I’m not a fraud
And I won’t bow to the Faceless God
I’m your friend and I’m not afraid
We’ll make the best of the mess they made

So what have you found should we go to the underground

Here in the Lost Bay
How many days do we have left till the last day
Children behave is what they say in the Lost Bay
We’re not depressed, we’re just obsessed
In the Lost Bay
So how many days do we have left
