WHAT IS THIS?
These soundscapes are meant for use with Goodman Games' DCC 100 module The Music of the Spheres is Chaos. This game comes with a clever dungeon that can be rotated into different combinations which align with elements and zodiac signs. The object of these tracks is to create an immersive experience where the GM can play one of the "Turning the Key" tracks every time the players choose a new dungeon configuration. Then, the GM can play one of the longer pieces that corresponds with the element and zodiac sign combo that best fits the area of the dungeon where the players are exploring. The intent is to help the players feel like the whole environment around them shifts every time they spin the alembic key.

BACKGROUND
In December 2021 Harley Stroh reached out and informed me of an effort to create some soundscapes for his excellent DCC100 adventure. At that point I’d already written the titular song and was waist deep in the concept. Although the game was not available yet, Harley had explained the concept of the Alembic Key which can manipulate the layout of the main dungeon itself. With 3 elements and 4 zodiac signs there are 12 possible combinations. My own wheels started spinning at that point, there are 12 keys in western music … each track could be in a different key … what if each one was in a different mode? What if each one had elemental sound effects as well as some sparse eerie sounds? Maybe the echoes of chanting acolytes from ages past? Well here you go. Here are 12 total soundscapes along with 3 variations of the initial turning of the alembic key itself. I learned from my experiments making Mothership ambiences that this stuff is not for everyone. That’s fine. While I was working on these I just had in mind one judge. One die hard judge out there running DCC100 and looking for a more immersive experience for their players. If these tracks make their way to that table and help create some cool vibes, I’ll feel like I’ve done my job. Thanks to Harley and all the Goodman Games folks/DCC fans for letting me be a part of the community.
