The Labyrinth of Skulls

from Dungeon23 by Loot the Body

/

about

It's November and I have 3 tracks to go. Will I finish? I'm gonna try.

Anyway, this song was inspired by Quadra's excellent Dungeon23 entry from February. Quadra is the creator of the TRAAA.SH blog and Warped Beyond Recognition for Mothership (among other things). As soon as this whole project started I started following as many accounts as I could that were somehow related to the project. Quadra's work stood out instantly. There's some thing very D&D/R. Crumb about their map work.

I'm always looking for lore to inspire the lyrics and in this case the idea of a skeletonized minotaur cleaning the bones of the dead in acid to create a labyrinth of skulls really did the trick.

I hope you dig the song. Follow Quadra's work below.

lyrics

When you die as you know you must
You won't waste underneath the dust

Though your days are done
You may carry on
In the labyrinth of skulls

In the end there’s no escape
But in death there’s a part to play

Holding up the walls
All along the halls
Of the labyrinth of skulls

I'm here to welcome you home
And clean the flesh from your bones
You’re not alone

Time will lose all you have begotten
Bones remain when your names forgotten

The living can’t conceive
What empty eyes can see
In the labyrinth of skulls

When your days are done
You may carry on
In the labyrinth of skulls
